Due to the high temperatures related to the fuel injectors, Caterpillar uses a formed stainless steel tube (injector cup) to allow coolant to quickly transfer heat away from the injector area. The injector is fitted at the narrow point where the injector tip aims into the combustion chamber. This end is sealed using a liquid thread locker. The large end of the of the injector cup is sealed with O-rings. Cleaning of both upper & lower end sealing surfaces is critical to trouble-free operation. Any leakage from either end will cause:
- Combustion gas leakage
- Coolant leakage
- Oil leakage into the cooling system
This tool set is used to simplify the removal & properly install the injector cups.
